Today was my last day with "Betfair" http://www.betfair.com To be honest, this was the most intense and stressful job I've ever had. I was delighted with my team but I knew we could not last forever. The environment has been too vibrant and too dynamic for major changes not to take place. I was also getting tired of those 12 hour shifts and working nights, weekends and public holidays. It was time to move to pastures new, say good bye to GNOC Team and 19th August 2012 was "the day".
Ohhh... what a day that was: Site outage, Degraded Service, Internal Tool issue, Failure of Hyper V node, Conference bridge, Rolling Restarts, Escalations, Splashing/Unsplashing… It supposed to have been nice and relaxing but turned out in a full swing of RED colour in our monitoring screens.
