Pasirodo jau antri metai North Greenwich turi prieplauka, kuri dienom veikia kaip baras  ir kaip teatras vasaros vakarais. Siemet rodo Heartbreak Hotel ir kas vakara po 20 sudauzytu sirdziu registruojasi, kad atsigautu.

Shame on us. 10 years in Greenwich and only the first time in Greenwich Theatre, but as they say, better later than never. Right?

Our ‘later’ opened with Dido Queen of Carthage. Real off-West End production with no extortionate prices, no weeks of waiting, no never ending queues and tickets available pretty much on the day. We enjoyed somewhat cosy amphitheatre-like stage with actors being just there, in front of you (although that would not have been the case with seats being further up). At times, you could think they were performing for you alone.  DQoC is a classic tale of (not so happy) love with a modern interpretation, however the speech has been left rhymed and sounded like Iliad itself. In fact, the story could have been Iliad’s sequel.  Who could argue it wasn't…

Rewind two hours back and we are enjoying another novelty in Greenwich. Crowd feeder, naked chef Jamie Oliver has arrived to yet another place in London. We used to come to the restaurant that occupied the same premises before, but Jamie’s Italian (for what it is) punches way above it on all levels. Good for drinks only, for assorted products from deli to take home or for longer Italian meals at the restaurant, it is, by all means, our preferred branch, not to mention how easy it is to get in during the week and how conveniently close it is placed to home. Keep on cooking, Jamie (or shall we say, whoever you have appointed this time)! :)
